This is a Gunmoney Shilling issued in May 1690. It is the small type shilling which was issued from May as James's supply of metal became short.

This coin is in About Uncirculated - it has a light tone and has traces of original lustre in the design. There is some weakness in the lower rim on the obverse and in the month and legend below it on the reverse.

This piece is among the most common of the Gunmoney coins. It also occurs in a silver proof striking , which is the most common of the Gunmoney silver proofs.

These peices are common up to about Very Fine condition - pieces in better than Extremely Fine condition, with good strikes and with no problems are scarce but not rare.
